Position Summary

The Controller is a key leadership role responsible for directing all aspects of the company's accounting and financial reporting functions. This individual will ensure accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, budgeting, cash management, and regulatory compliance. The Controller will also provide strategic financial insight to support the company's continued growth and success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, job costing, A/R, A/P, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze timely monthly financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and job cost reports.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with company leadership.
  • Establish and enhance systems for tracking job profitability, including the development of reporting tools and processes that provide clear visibility into job performance, cost control, and margin optimization.
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial data.
  • Manage cash flow planning and reporting to ensure adequate liquidity for operations.
  • Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Supervise accounting staff and provide professional development and support.
  • Evaluate financial and operational performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate job costing and margin analysis.
  • Coordinate annual review or audit with external accountants.
  • Support strategic initiatives and provide financial insight to assist in decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including WIP schedules, job costing, and percent-complete revenue recognition.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP or project management software is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively.

***Along with the main duties, you will also be expected to carry out any other duties reasonably asked of you.


Salary:

  • $75,000 - $95,000 per year, depending on experience.

  • The schedule is Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm (Hours may vary as they are subject to change as needed, but this is the standard day-to-day schedule)
